Low Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD): Whichever method countries are following there is a likely chance that these available methods, while providing much needed water, are slowly causing environmental damage in one way or the other. LTTD technology has been around for a while but could not be converted into a commercially successful alternative to the Reverse Osmosis process. LTTD is today one of the cleanest (if not the cleanest) way to desalinated sea water. This technology has added advantages of being aquaculture friendly and also providing for cheap air conditioning. There are many advantage with this technology which are listed out in other sections in the website.
LTTD works on a simple principle. The surface sea water is evaporated at reduced pressures thereby generating vapors which are then condensed by cooler water. This process though under the evaporation technique does not require any heating of the water. With no chemical pre treatment requirement and only a fraction of the water being pumped getting converted into pure water, this is the most environmentally friendly solution in the desalination world.
